Patrick Wilson Confirmed as Dan Dreiberg?

IESB.net also confirm through their sources that Patrick Wilson will play Dan Dreiberg (Night Owl). Wilson, a 34 year old American, was twice nominated for Broadway's Tony Award as Best Actor (Musical): in 2001 for "The Full Monty" and in 2002 for his role of Curly in a revival of "Oklahoma!". His film roles include 'The Alamo', 'The Phantom of the Opera', 'Hard Candy', 'Little Children' & 'Running with Scissors'. He is currently filming 'Valkyrie' with Tom Cruise.

Don't like the sound of this much. Wilson is too handsome and in too good of physical shape to play Dan Dreiberg.

I think I would consider the comic book version of Dreiberg to be more "homely" than unattractive. A bit of makeup could dull those chiseled looks. As for the physique; yeah, he's gonna have to eat a whole lot of cheeseburgers and drink quite a bit of beer to get the right body shape going on. Let's cross our fingers on this one.

Let's not make judgments based only on appearance. Actors have undergone extreme transformations for roles (e.g. Christian Bale for The Machinist, Charlize Theron for Monster). I have faith in Snyder and Wilson to see to it that Dreiberg will be portrayed accurately. Some dedicated role preparation will definitely be in order, for sure.

I agree with m. suen -- I have faith in Wilson as an actor to have the desire to portray his character as faithfully as possible. As for his looks, though I do think Wilson a bit too young for the part, he has the same kindness in his face that Dreiberg seems to have in the novel, and Wilson has the same attractive quality that Dreiberg has in that scholarly, upstanding American citizen way -- in a word, I suppose, "homely," as scott has already said.
